If you’ve got the time, stop by the Coyote Pointe DGC page at dgcoursereview.com and say a few words about what you dig about the course. While you’re there, you can check out and review other courses you’ve played, add ones that aren’t there yet, even upload pictures if you’ve got ‘em. Neat!

The second FUNdraiser for the 2007 Coyote Point Classic is scheduled for Sunday, June 10th.

The event will be the day after our monthly, and we are hoping everyone will come to the monthly, camp for the night, and then play in the Safari event the next day. The format for the Safari will be 2 unique 12 hole Safari Rounds, with another HUGE raffle after the 2nd round. We were able to raise over $500 from the last event, and that is our goal again for this one.

The $2 Mulligan/Raffle tickets are back by popular demand! We will be raffling off a Mach Lite, a Limited Edition Sparkle Squallâ„¢, and a cool framed Disc Golf Poster among other fantastic prizes. The cost is $20 for Ams and $25 for Open, with $10 from each entry fee going to the 2007 Coyote Point Classic Fund. We will also be giving out another Mach Lite as a Hole in One Shot.

Big thanks to the DGA for helping us out in a big way! Signups start at 9am Sunday, first round is at 10am, a BBQ lunch hopefully will be provided. We hope to see you there!

Attention! Anybody visiting Lake Casitas, please note that the rangers will be issuing tickets for speeding. There will be no more warnings for 1st time offenders as it nears the busy time of the camping season. There can be people in your lane on the many blind curves, so please help make it safe for all and respect the 15 mph limit.

Greetings and Salutations!

The new site is up and ready for action. New features include:

  • A much easier to use content management system
  • Comment spam protection
  • A full featured gallery
  • A real message board
  • An event manager for tracking players and scores
  • Spiffy new graphics

Over the next several weeks, many of the old posts will be migrated over. Unfortunately, migrating all the stories and users from the old Scoop system has proved to be a difficult and non-trivial task, so you’ll probably have to re-register. Once you do, you’ll have access to the post comments, gallery comments and message board.

If you’re looking for content from the old site and don’t see it, email admin [at] venturadiscgolf [daht] com and we’ll see what we can do about bringing it over. The old site content will also be available for a while at scoop.venturadiscgolf.com.

Enjoy the new site, and thanks for visiting VenturaDiscGolf.com!

UPDATE

Well! It appears we have our first major bug. Evidently, IE5/5.5/6 doesn’t handle rendering of .png graphic transparencies. Way to go Microsoft! So, until I work out some kind of graphic/javascript solution, I highly encourage everyone to download and use Firefox, or some other browser from the good folks at the Mozilla project (which includes Mozilla, Netscape, and assorted other browsers using the Gecko engine). Why it is that Microsoft products, with the power of the world’s biggest software shop, can’t make a browser that handles common graphics formats and internet standards that have been around for over 10 years, I can’t explain. Apologies for the mess to all you IE users, I’ll see what I can do to give you a usable header and navigation menu.

Ah! Okay, so, according to this IE Blog, they have PNG transparency support in IE7. So, for all you die-hard IE users out there, until I figure out a fix for this, if you have the ability and desire to upgrade your IE to version 7, it should work. The javascript, that’s another story. Again, I suppose a decade of published internet standards is difficult if you’re not open-source ;)

Enjoy this trip in the Wayback Machine, all the way to… 2005. It was a beautiful weekend, with a great turnout, and a now familiar post-event interview with Men’s Open winner Lane Mason. Produced by Stu Shulman and Brian Fortune.
